Kaiser LVN becomes an RN
Maria Cotty is one of more than 50 LVNs moving into higher-paying positions through an upgrade training program created by the collective bargaining process between Kaiser and SEIU UHW-West.“I’m just so grateful to Kaiser, to the union and to the Education Fund,” said Cotty, a 10-year employee at Kaiser’s Roseville Medical Center. “I have always wanted to better myself." |

Children's Hospital cashier becomes a sterile processing technician
"It’s great that Children’s Hospital and the union are working together to provide these kinds of opportunities,” says April Striplin. "It lets people know that you don’t have to settle. You can move up. I’m just so grateful." Before receiving the training, Striplin worked as a food service cashier at Children’s. She’ll make from $3 to $6 more an hour in her new position. |

FREE CEU Courses keep employees abreast of latest requirements

toward licensure. Having these classes available for continuing
